Description

Reports on free, peptide and protein associated D-amino acids in living organisms are increasing tremendously in the last several years. Their role in human disease and presence as biomarkers are beginning to be recognized. These advances are due, in great respect, to the development of powerful new analytical methodologies. The occurrence and possible role of D-amino acids in Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, and neurological disorders will be presented, along with the techniques needed to determine such species.
